Taxonomical novelties Botanica Pacifica. A journal of plant science and conservation 2026. Preprint Article first published online: 18 SEP 2026 | DOI: 10.17581/bp.2026.15213 Survey of the genus Adoxa (Viburnaceae) in Northeast Asia: taxonomical diversity and a new species Marina N. Koldaeva ![]() Botanical Garden-Institute FEB RAS, Vladivostok, Russia The article examines the species diversity and taxonomic position of known Adoxaceae (Viburnaceae) species. Currently, the genus Adoxa comprises 4 accepted species; the taxonomic status of 3 other species remains disputed. Based on comparative morphological analysis, a new species from Trans-Baikal Territory, Adoxa itegriloba sp. nov., has been identified, described, and illustrated. It is characterized by an entire or entire-lobed blade of stem and rosette leaves, with lobes remaining entire even when the rosette leaf blade is dissected or divided. The upper flower is tetramerous, with the formula Ca(2)Co(4)A4G(4); the lateral flower is pentamerous, with Ca(3)Co(5)A5G(5), similarly to A. moschatellina, but the stamens have entire (unsplit) filaments. The new species possibly originated through hybridization between the Holarctic A. moschatellina and the disjunctly distributed South Siberian–Far Eastern relict A. orientalis. The occurrence in Trans-Baikal Territory of A. itegriloba with its original leaf blade structure, along with the relict A. orientalis and the widely distributed A. moschatellina, allows the mountainous regions of the upper reaches of the Amur basin to be regarded as a secondary center of species diversity of the genus Adoxa. Н.
