Larch stand
Daurian larch (known among botanists as Larix cajanderi) is among few species, which are able to grow on permafrost with the active soils as thin as 10-15 cm. This particular stand has a sparse tree layer of larch, very sparse shrub layer and dense layer of dwarf shrubs, mosses and lichens. The permafrost lies right underneath of plants, at a depth of 12 cm.
